Group Leader
Alex spends his time at the lab juggling between administrative tasks, teaching and research. When he is not thinking about chemistry, Alex likes to be at the gym.
Debsena Chakraborty

Debsena did his PhD at the Indian Institute of Science - Bangalore, India. His PhD thesis was on "Water-Soluble Interlocked and Non-Interlocked Architectures for Applications in Chemical Reactions and Molecular Separation" under the guidance of Prof. P.S.Mukerjee. He works on Transition metal containing polymers in our group. In his free time, he likes to explore, cook and watch anime or football.
Sourav Singha Roy
Postdoc
Sourav is passionate about his research on main group organometallics and how they can be used in polymer synthesis, homogeneous catalysis, and even helping with carbon dioxide sequestration. When he’s not in the lab, you can often find him enjoying a game of tennis.
Sébastien Berruée
Postdoc
Sébastien obtained his PhD from the Sorbonne Université in Paris, under the supervision of Lydia Sosa Vargas and Jutta Rieger. His thesis is entitled “Perylene imide supramolecular sticker for higher-order polymeric nanostructures in water.” Within our group, he works on main-group and metal-containing polymers for chiral light emission. Outside the lab, he enjoys going to concerts, watching football, and playing video games.
Kuldeep Singh
Postdoc
Kuldeep Singh obtained his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. His research interests include organometallic chemistry, carbenes, nitrenium compounds, and phosphinines. His current research focuses on the synthesis of phosphorus-based polymers. In his free time, he enjoys travelling, running, and cycling.
Bhargav R M

Bhargav did his BS-MS at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research - Thiruvananthapuram, India. His master's thesis was on "zinc hydride compounds for catalytic activation of unsaturated molecules" under the guidance of Dr. Ajay Venugopal. He works on polymerisation catalysis in the group. In his free time, he likes to explore new places, hike and watch cricket.
Christoph Fornacon-Wood

Christoph completed his BSc. at the University of Sheffield before going to the Freie Universität Berlin for his MSc. degree. He carried out his master's thesis in the AG Plajer working on epoxide/heteroallene ROCOP and is now doing his PhD in the group working on fluorine containing polymers. In his spare time he enjoys going to see live music, reading and watching football.
Malte Cornelsen

Malte completed his Bachelor and Master at the LMU in Munich. In his master’s thesis he worked on the synthesis and characterization of fluorinated oxetanes and their polymerization under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Konstantin Karaghiosoff. In the AG Plajer he is doing his PhD on sulfur substituted, thermal conductive polymers. In his free time he likes hiking and organizing events.
Anaswara A V
PhD Student
Anaswara completed her BSMS degree at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal. For her master’s thesis, she worked on “Design and Synthesis of Core-Annulated Terrylene Diimide: Photophysical and Electrochemical Investigations” under the supervision of Prof. J. Sankar. Her research interests focus on polymers containing transition metals. Outside the lab, she enjoys music and playing volleyball.
Merlin Stühler
PhD Student (shared PhD)
Merlin grew up in Berlin Lichterfelde, where he went to school and graduated from high school. He then studied chemistry for his bachelor's and master's degree and started working as a student assistant in the AG Plajer, where he wrote his master's thesis on supramolecular self-assembly of zinc(II) metallogels . In his remaining time, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and daughter and playing music with his brother.
Jenny Stephan
PhD Student (shared PhD)
Jenny completed her bachelor and master's degree at the Freie Universität Berlin where she carried out an internship and master's thesis in the group on ROCOP of oxetane derivates with phenyl isothiocyanate. In her free time she likes to dance and is involved in competitions all over the world.
